The Eagles traveled to Bay City for the weekend to participate in the Bay City Showcase and their first matchup Friday night was against the co-op Lakes United which included schools from Bloomfield Hills, Waterford Mott and others from that area. The Eagles would control the first period with goals from Carter O'Gorman unassisted and Gavin Brandow with assists from Logan Kowalke and Lucas Brandow. The Eagles were up 2-0 after one. Lakes would not let that stand and would score two power play goals in the final four minutes of the second period to tie the game at 2-2 after two. The third period was back and forth as Lucas Brandow scored with an assist from Logan Kowalke and Will Kersaan, but Lakes would tie the game less than a minute later and then with 1:30 left in the game Lakes would take their first lead of the game with their third power play goal to go up 4-3, but the Eagles would not quit. With the goalie pulled for the extra attacker, Tyler Cicero found the back of the net to tie the game with 10 seconds left. Dalen McAfee assisted on the play. That would take the game to a shootout. A shootout consists of three players form each team alternating breakaways. If there is not a winner after three breakaways then teams continue to alternate shooter until there is a winner. Lakes went first and Senior goalie Blake Visser stood strong and stopped all three Lakes shooters which set the stage for the Eagles final shooter as they were also stopped on the first two breakaways. Junior, Lucas Brandow went down the ice and made a couple of moves and put the puck in the back of the net for the win!!! Great job Eagles. Visser recorded his fourth win of the season facing 34 shots and stopping all three shootout breakaways. The Eagles return to the ice at 2pm in Bay City vs Jackson United. Good luck Eagles!
