Hudsonville JV Baseball had things clicking in every phase on Friday, taking down Mona Shores in a doubleheader sweep with two mercy-rule wins, 14-0 in Game 1 and 11-0 in Game 2. In the first game, the Eagles came out swinging and never really let up. Luke Uhlig had the biggest day at the plate, finishing with 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and 6 total bases, including a home run that gave Hudsonville a big spark. Brycen West added 2 hits and 3 RBIs, while James Brock also had a strong game with 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Kenten Poll chipped in with 1 hit and 2 RBIs, and Carson Weemhoff added a hit and an RBI. The lineup stayed productive throughout, with contributions from Luke Caminiti (1 RBI), Kayden Rodriguez (1 hit, 1 run), Luke Pennington (1 hit), and Brady Miller (1 hit). Defensively, Hudsonville made a number of solid plays, with Caminiti and Rodriguez standing out in the field. On the mound, Aiden Straus set the tone with 2 innings of work, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 2. Luke Pennington came in and kept things rolling, throwing 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts as the Eagles secured the 14-0 win. Game 2 felt like more of the same. Hudsonville stayed aggressive at the plate and sharp on the mound. Aiden Straus had another big performance, finishing with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 4 RBIs, including a walk-off home run to end the game. Carson Weemhoff filled up the stat sheet with a hit, a run, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Luke Pennington added a hit and 2 RBIs, while Graham Rosema and Kenten Poll each recorded a hit and scored twice. Brady Miller also picked up a hit as the Eagles continued to get contributions from everyone in the lineup. Pitching was just as strong in the second game. Carson Weemhoff threw 2 no-hit innings without allowing an earned run. Kayden Rodriguez followed with 2 innings and 4 strikeouts, and Kaden Condon closed it out with a clean inning, striking out 2. All around, it was a really complete day for Hudsonville, with strong pitching, timely hitting, and solid defense in both games. The Eagles will look to carry that momentum into Tuesday, when they open conference play with a doubleheader against Grandville.
