Hudsonville JV Baseball split its Tuesday doubleheader against West Ottawa in dramatic fashion, with both games finishing by the identical score of 7-6. In Game 1, the Eagles came up just short in a 7-6 loss despite strong efforts on the mound from Jack Arens and Luke Pennington in relief. Hudsonville struggled to consistently get the offense rolling throughout the game, managing only a few key hits from Kayden Rodriguez, who collected two, along with Brady Miller and Kaden Condon, who each added one. The Eagles battled late to stay within striking distance but were unable to complete the comeback. Hudsonville responded in Game 2 with a thrilling 7-6 win to earn the split. James Brock led the offensive charge with a huge three-hit, three-RBI performance, while Kayden Rodriguez added a hit and two RBIs. Luke Uhlig contributed a hit and an RBI, with additional hits coming from Aiden Straus and Carson Weemhoff. On the mound, Uhlig started and threw 2 1/3 innings before Condon worked 1 2/3 innings in relief, setting the stage for Rodriguez to close things out. The game ended in dramatic fashion as Brady Miller turned a clutch double play to seal the victory for Hudsonville. With the split, Hudsonville and West Ottawa will meet again Thursday to decide the series winner.
